His undergraduate degree is from State University in Buffalo, New York, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa.  While there, he worked at Rosswell Park Memorial Institute as an associate researcher.

Dr. Scheuer went on to the University of Oklahoma where he received his M.D. degree.  His training includes two years in a general surgery residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.  His residency was spent at New York University where he held the position of chief resident.  During that time, he worked six months at Sloan Kettering Memorial Cancer Institute and 18 months at Bellevue Hospital.  In addition, Dr. Scheuer had six months of pediatric urology training under the guidance of a world-renowned specialist.  Another six months included training with Drs. Duben and Amelar, working intricately with male infertility and corresponding laboratory testing.  Dr. Scheuer at this point received his board certification from the American Board of Urology.

Dr. Scheuer has been in private practice in the Long Beach area since 1986.  He has taken a practical interest in both infertility and pediatric urology.  He has been active in the national prostate cancer screening program.  He was a pioneer in the development of the no-scalpel vasectomy technique in the United States and is one of the most experienced urologists in this procedure in the country.
